SAHRR Round 4: Stumped by the Square

I got a start on this round with an idea about fish in a stream. I had a man’s shirt printed with what appeared to be trout.

Using a quick sketch on graph paper…

….I made several squares, adding some green painted fabric to the square within a square.

But I’m not convinced that the result works with my concept. So I will take a pause and not complete Round 4 this week.

One of six children, I was raised by a busy mom, who instilled in me a love of fabric. Though I learned to sew and knit at a young age, it was the arrival of my first grandchild that pushed me into action. A long-time knitter, I am now ready to explore all things fiber.

  1. I know how you feel. We artists tend to be our worst critics. Still, I personally think it looks great and many others seem to like the fabric you used as well! I’ve never tried painting on fabric before. I’ve tried many things in art but for some reason never went there. I’m excited to see how it goes!

I’ve painted on alot of things but haven’t tried fabric before. I’m unsure as to why. I have added it into a collage if that counts? Does that count? LOL Anyway, great work!
