Today I wanted another shot at embroidery on a watercolor painting.
I came up with a fantasy-like, pre-historic plant form.
Here are the stages of the work.

Am I done now?

What do you think? Did I go too far? Or not far enough.
It could have been worse. I considered adding beads.
At least the activity was relaxing and restorative.

it’s perfect. well done.

The colors are crisp and fresh. I like it. You could always add more down the road if you feel you need it.

Thanks. One always has the thought in the back of the mind about over-working an art piece. It’s good to get feedback.

I really like it! I like the texture the stitches give the painting.

This also is ingenious. I love the idea of combining two (or more) art forms. Maybe thats why I love a lot of collages.

Yes, collage is appealing for that reason. Use whatever you can think of. I tried paper collage but didn’t like being all sticky with Mod-Podge.

Not a “deeply meaningful” or philosophical piece–but FUN! HAPPY! And an exciting idea to me, combining paint and stitching. The flowers are, yes, fantastical and creative. The plain stitching adds the perfect final touch–an essential complement to the flowers.

Thank you! I hope you give this technique a try and then write about it.
